On the Persistence of Oocyte Nuclei from Fetus to Maturity in the Laboratory Mouse
نویسندگان
چکیده
Tritiated thymidine injected intraperitoneally into female mice midway through the gestation period was demonstrated by autoradiographic methods to be incorporated into the nuclei of oocytes of female embryos, observed at the pachytene stage of meiosis 2 to 4 days after the injection. The tritium label was also demonstrated in the oocyte nuclei of the daughters of similarly treated females at maturity (6 weeks post partum). It was also found that some follicle cells, likewise labeled with H(3)-thymidine in mid-fetal life, persisted to maturity with few or no intervening mitoses. The observations are presented in support of the prevailing view that individual oocytes which arise from germ cell primordia in fetal stages become the egg cells of the adult female mammal.

O-11: Prenatal Oogenesis: Selecting the Qualityand Quantity of Oocytes in the OvarianReserve
Background: The purpose of this research programme is to improve understanding of the molecular and cellular processes that lead to selection of oocytes before birth. Vastly more oocytes are produced prenatally than can be utilised in reproductive life. Around 70%, of oocytes formed are eliminated before birth and never contribute to the ovarian reserve. After birth, the number of oocytes conti...
متن کاملFetal microchimerism in mouse caerulein-induced pancreatitis model
Objective(s): Fetal microchimerism is the persistence of allogeneic cell population that transfer from the fetus to the mother. The aim of this study was to evaluate the presence of fetal microchimerism in the pancreas of the mouse with acute pancreatitis (AP).Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, female wild-type mice were mated with male EGFP+. AP model was obtained by injection ...
متن کاملP-255: The Effects of Vanadium in Vitrification Medium on in vitro Maturation of Oocytes Derived from Vitrified-Warmed Mouse Ovary
Background: Since the freezing method was offered, much effort has been done to improve the freezing conditions in different studies and the impact of different freezing methods and mediums on oocyte, embryo and ovarian tissues has been examined. Based on studies, minerals play an important role in oocyte maturation and subsequent embryo development. Vanadium is one of the minerals, which is ve...
متن کاملP-37: The Effect of Extracellular Calcium Concentration on the In vitro Maturation of Mouse Oocytes after Mechanical Stimulation by Hydrostatic Pressure
Background: Oocyte maturation is usually defined as the period of progression from the first to the second meiotic arrest and involves coordinated nuclear and cytoplasmic modification. Ca2+ signals are known as important regulators of oocyte maturation. Extracellular Ca2+ is important for first polar body formation, normal meiosis kinetics, and for preserving the chromosome and spindle configur...
متن کاملP-254: The Effects of Zinc in Vitrification Medium on In vitro Maturation of Oocytes Derived from Vitrified-Warmed Mouse Ovary
Background: Cryopreservation of ovarian tissue is an important option for preserving the fertility of cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Researchers have used different cryoprotectants and various techniques to improve the cryopreservation of ovaries However, despite significant recent progress, the efficiency of ovary cryopreservation is still low. Zinc is essential for ...
